Qatar General Electric Water Company (KAHRAMAA) has completed the first power plant for the Qatar Railway Company (Q Rail) in the Las Abu Fontas region. The plant will supply electricity to the country's future projects, as well as the Doha subway project that meets the operational framework of the plant.
By collaborating with the Q Rail, KAHRAMAA completed the operational works of the 132/33kV substation in 16 months.
The facility comprises two separated systems for operation. The first 132kV system will be generated by KAHRAMAA, while the second 33kV system will be developed by Q Rail.
The substations are also connected to the Ras Abu Fontas and Al-Thumama super substations using the two existing 132kV cable circuits to adequately power the project.
KAHRAMAA also plans to build four new substations. The new 220/132 / 33kV facility is expected to begin by the end of this year.
